Soshanguve student leader, Mr Beshley Disoloane, has been named secretary-general of the Tshwane University of Technology’s Institutional Student Representative Council (ISRC), according to the South African Students Congress (SASCO).
SASCO’s Soshanguve branch announced Disoloane’s appointment. TUT had not confirmed it at the time of publication.
The secretary-general’s responsibilities include managing the ISRC’s records, reports and communication between campuses. The office also helps raise student concerns, including funding appeals, accommodation and examination support, with university management.
The SASCO branch has run an exam coffee drive and a student voter registration campaign. It says it plans further activities ahead of the local government elections.
SASCO received the most votes in the Soshanguve campus SRC election, securing 3,734 votes (33.92%) and three of the nine seats. The EFF Youth Command received 3,209 votes (29.15%) and also secured three seats, according to final results published on TUT’s SRC elections website.
